posted Jan 30, 2015, 7:01 AM by Kristen Gilpin   [ updated Jan 30, 2015, 8:25 AM ]

Short Version

Yoan and Jung-Mei up borne
Youthful cranes at reign’s end.
Trimaris cries, torn-heart,
Tear flies from red eyes scorched;
Gunnar, great Sudreja,
Greets oath-ed shield-fleet men
Bryndis blood-swan beauty
Born in bold swords-playing.

Sweat of battle’s swan’s drum
So quiets tongues noble
Raven-feeders, royal eagle,
Raw from battle’s maw brings;
Lively was their life, O Lord
Lived in lifting linden,
Called by royal kinsman
Koning’s proud hawks’ kingdom.

Thol-ed Thalassia
Through grey hours long grueling
Breast-blood shed sealed selfless
Symbols of feathers certain;
Masterful art-makings
Melisande, Mistress
Brushstrokes bear fruit, Bourges-woman,
Burnish-ed laurel leaves furnish

Kinder in battle-clothes clad
Claim victor in slaughter-wall
White-gold winging weapon
Wears youth battle-faring;
Finnguala bold and fair one
For toil-rain roy’l hands
Bless-ed feathers bequeath
Alusdair’s rare daughter

North-home deeds fair demands
Declares from seat, Eagle
Raven to sea, too, takes
Tar-hulled salt-spray war-gulls;
Roman Kurn bat-quick man
Courted bright Nile’s kite-hawk
Eridani, Egypt’s
Ever-willful woman

Tear flies from red eyes scorched;
Gunnar, great Sudreja,
Greets oath-ed shield-fleet men
Bryndis blood-swan beauty

She, named second so, sits
Spear-dancing war prancer
Golden Bryndis and Gunnar
Brought from ancient wrought men;
Barons althing bold call

and Ymir’s wand-sweat seating.

Sweat of battle’s swan’s drum

Wave-tossed land wins war-raising
With new crown-made yew-men
